Britney's New Videoclip (edited)

This post is for Dekus. Brtiney has recently produced a new videoclip. The music sucks as usual, but there are some spicy scenes in the videoclip. Here is the normal version of the clip. Someone took the effort to edit the clip and only leave the nude scenes. Here ya go:
Here are the scenes in slowmotion if the other one is too short to come :)

Doctors can’t tell why Mandy Sellars' legs keep expanding

Another one for our bizarre medicine collection. Doctors can’t tell Mandy Sellars why her legs keep expanding – all they say is that her only option is a drastic amputation. She travelled to the US for a new TV show in search of an alternative...

It’s not easy being Mandy Sellars. She has hugely outsized legs that make having a normal life nearly impossible.

People stare whenever she leaves the house, she needs a special car to get around and can’t work full time.

What’s more, her condition is getting worse and doctors say she needs an amputation so severe she won’t be able to sit up.

100% Efficient Solar Cells?

Columbus (OH) - Researchers at Ohio State University have accidentally discovered a new solar cell material capable of absorbing all of the sun's visible light energy. The material is comprised of a hybrid of plastics, molybdenum and titanium. The team discovered it not only fluoresces (as most solar cells do), but also phosphoresces. Electrons in a phosphorescent state remain at a place where they can be "siphoned off" as electricity over 7 million times longer than those generated in a fluorescent state. This combination of materials also utilizes the entire visible spectrum of light energy, translating into a theoretical potential of almost 100% efficiency. Commercial products are still years away, but this foundational work may well pave the way for a truly renewable form of clean, global energy. Full Article... I'm skeptic. I thought it was theoretically impossible to get 100% efficiency. There are always losses in conversion. If it's all accurate, this could be very big, if they can manufacture it for a reasonable price that is.

Do You Know More About America Than the Average American?

First, a random sample of 2,508 American adults of all backgrounds was surveyed, allowing comparisons to be made between the college and non-college educated. They were asked 33 straightforward civics questions, many of which high school graduates and new citizens are expected to know. Respondents were also asked several questions concerning their participation in American civic life, their attitudes about perennial issues of American governance, and other behaviors that may or may not contribute to civic literacy. Finally, the results were run through multivariate regression analysis, allowing ISI to compare the civic impact of college with that of other societal factors.

Do Americans possess the knowledge necessary to participate wisely in the affairs of the nation? Read below to find out.

Seventy-one percent of Americans fail the test, with an overall average score of 49%.

Of the 2,508 People surveyed, 164 say they have held an elected government office at least once in their life. Their average score on the civic literacy test is 44%, compared to 49% for those who have not held an elected office.

Take the test here.

Boy With Heart Outside Chest

A four-year-old Chinese boy born with a protruding heart has undergone five hours of surgery as doctors try to correct the defect. Zhang Weiyuan has Pentalogy of Cantrell, which means the heart does not have a sternum or muscles to protect it and is covered only by skin. It is so rare it occurs in around five in a million births. After the operation, octors at Shenjing Hospital at the Chinese Medical University said that Weiyuan would have to be in intensive care for three days before they could find out if the operation was a success. Buried Glaciers Found on Mars

Mars has vast glaciers hidden under aprons of rocky debris near mid-latitude mountains, a new study confirms, pointing to a new and large potential reservoir of life-supporting water on the planet. These mounds of ice exist at much lower latitudes than any ice previously found on the red planet. "Altogether, these glaciers almost certainly represent the largest reservoir of water ice on Mars that's not in the polar caps," said John Holt of the University of Texas at Austin and the main author of the study. "Just one of the features we examined is three times larger than the city of Los Angeles and up to one-half-mile thick, and there are many more." Full Article...

Gyroscopic Pool Table for on a cruise ship

Cyberbeast his post did reminded me of a movie I saw some time ago. Even with the heaviest storm this gyroscopic pool table would work fine.

Cruise Ships vs Waves

Cruises don't have to be boring when you're in rough seas :) Watch this dining room turning into a disaster zone in 7 minutes. I recommend turning on some music as a sound track. It gets really freaky towards the end.
These are the kind of seas a cruise ship in that condition might be sailing through.
And this is what can happen to the pool in less rough seas.

Waterschapsverkiezingen: We mogen weer!

Zoals jullie ongetwijfeld weten mogen we weer kiezen!

Hard Drive Heads

"The dimensions of the head are impressive. With a width of less than a hundred nanometers and a thickness of about ten, it flies above the platter at a speed of up to 15,000 RPM, at a height that’s the equivalent of 40 atoms. If you start multiplying these infinitesimally small numbers, you begin to get an idea of their significance. Consider this little comparison: if the read/write head were a Boeing 747, and the hard-disk platter were the surface of the Earth: The head would fly at Mach 800 At less than one centimeter from the ground And count every blade of grass Making fewer than 10 unrecoverable counting errors in an area equivalent to all of Ireland. "

Single-Celled Giant (3cm) Upends Early Evolution

"Slowly rolling across the ocean floor, a humble single-celled creature is poised to revolutionize our understanding of how complex life evolved on Earth. [...] The trouble is, single-celled critters aren't supposed to be able to leave trails. The oldest fossils of animal trails, called 'trace fossils', date to around 580 million years ago, and paleontologists always figured they must have been made by multicellular animals with complex, symmetrical bodies. [...] At up to three centimeters (1.2 inches) in diameter, they're also enormous compared to most of their microscopic cousins. "If these guys were alive 600 million years ago, and their traces got fossilized, a paleontologist who had never seen this thing would not have a shade of doubt attributing this kind of trace to the activity of a big, multicellular, bilaterally symmetrical animal," Matz said."~Discovery.com

The Wit and Wisdom of Cancer

What would cancer cells say if they progressed to humanity's advanced level of consciousness? A videoclip made by Nina Paley, a supporter of vhemt.org "The Voluntary Human Extinction Movement (vhemt.org)is a movement advanced by people who care about life on planet Earth. They're not just a bunch of misanthropes and anti-social, Malthusian misfits, taking morbid delight whenever disaster strikes humans. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Voluntary human extinction is the humanitarian alternative to human disasters."

Burgemeesters steunen gedoogbeleid

"Rotterdam, 19 nov.

Real Life Furby Has Been Rediscovered

Anthropologists discover long-lost primate in Indonesia A team led by a Texas A&M University anthropologist has discovered a group of primates not seen alive in 85 years. The pygmy tarsiers, furry Furby/gremlin-looking creatures about the size of a small mouse and weighing less than 2 ounces, have not been observed since they were last collected for a museum in 1921. Several scientists believed they were extinct until two Indonesian scientists trapping rats in the highlands of Sulawesi accidentally trapped and killed a pygmy tarsier in 2000. Full Article...

Pilot conversations

For the record: fake bells are ringing, but I don't feel the urge to do the necessary detective work. Just enjoy! A Pan Am 727 flight, waiting for start clearance in Munich , overheard the following: Lufthansa (in German): "Ground, what is our start clearance time?" Ground (in English): "If you want an answer you must speak in English." Lufthansa (in English): "I am a German, flying a German airplane, in Germany . Why must I speak English?" Unknown voice from another plane (in a beautiful British accent): "Because you lost the bloody war!" Speedbird 206: " Frankfurt , Speedbird 206! Clear of active runway." Ground: "Speedbird 206. Taxi to gate Alpha One-Seven." The BA 747 pulled onto the main taxiway and slowed to a stop. Ground: "Speedbird, do you not know where you are going?" Speedbird 206: "Stand by, Ground, I'm looking up our gate location now." Ground (with quite arrogant impatience): "Speedbird 206, have you not been to Frankfurt before?" Speedbird 206 (coolly): "Yes, twice in 1944, but it was dark, -- And I didn't land." Some more

The Horror...

Albino Africans live in fear after witch-doctor butchery A series of horrific murders of albinos in Tanzania has shocked the nation. As children are hacked to death for their body parts, believed to bring good luck, the authorities are failing to stop a trade in organs that relies on superstition and greed

The Tanzanian MP recounts the appalling story in a tone of sadness and horror. A woman named Salma had been told by her family to dress her baby entirely in black and to lay the little girl in a hut, alone. 'The mother didn't understand, but she obeyed the elders,' said Al-Shaymaa Kwegyir.

'Some hours later, unknown men arrived and went straight to the hut. They used a machete to cut off the child's legs. Then they slit her throat and poured the blood into a pot and drank it.'

Marine census discovers more than 200 new species

Scientists have discovered more than 200 new marine species, including giant sea stars, during work on the first global marine-life census. They have also documented novel fish behaviours, such as the deep-sea diving habits of the great white shark, and have revealed new ocean habitats. Work began in 2000, and will not be complete until 2010. But the findings so far from the 2,000-strong international marine-scientist team will be released at the World Conference on Marine Biodiversity in Valencia, Spain on 11-15 November. The census aims to map the distribution, diversity and abundance of marine species, including a complete list of up to 250,000 named species. It also aims to provide a fresh estimate of the number of species yet to be discovered, for which current estimates vary widely from 500,000 to several million. It will provide global traffic patterns of common marine species, and document DNA barcodes to identify many species. Full Article... Census of Marine Life website

Marijuana Regulation Improvement in the US

This is from just after the election and might have escaped your attention. It's good news.

Michigan’s new law goes into effect on December 4th, at which time nearly one-quarter of the US population will live in a state that authorizes the legal use of medical cannabis.

Meanwhile, in Massachusetts, some 65 percent of voters (and virtually every town) decided “yes” on Question 2, which reduces minor marijuana possession to a fine-only offense. Like in Michigan, voters rejected a high-profile, deceptive ad campaign by the measure’s opponents, who argued that it would increase adolescent drug abuse, permit large-scale marijuana trafficking, endanger workplace safety, and sharply increase traffic fatalities.

Question 2 is expected to become law in 30 days — making Massachusetts the thirteenth state to decriminalize the personal possession and use of cannabis. (Note: Under state law, politicians have the option of amending the new law.)

Dat is inmiddels gebeurd en daarom kan het verbod volgende maand ingaan.

Miniature Nuclear Reactors to be on Sale Within 5 Years

Using technology licensed from the U.S. government, an Arizona-based company is planning to bring a new generation of miniature nuclear reactors to market. The Hyperion Hydride Reactor is not much larger than a hot tub, is totally sealed and self-operating, has no moving parts and, beyond refueling, requires no maintenance of any sort. The reactor will output 27MW, enough to power a community of 20,000 homes, says Hyperion Energy, makers of the new reactor. The first models will roll off the assembly line in five years. Unlike conventional nuclear reactors, the Hyperion design uses no water for cooling, meaning it can be sited anywhere. It is designed to be covered in concrete and then buried while in operation, to reduce the risk of tampering. The reactor must be excavated every 7-10 years for refueling, but can otherwise be left entirely undisturbed. "Our goal is to generate electricity for 10 cents a watt anywhere in the world", says Hyperion CEO John Deal. Full Article...

Donkey brothel fares well in Colombia

Two brothers from Sincelejo, tired of being one of the many unemployed on Colombia's Caribbean coast, decided to set up a brothel. In this tropical brothel you won't find a variety of luscious mamis though. Thirty donkeys are available to fulfill the randy man's needs. Those able to understand the welcome sign in the photo above will understand exactly what goes on behind the tree. Donkeys are not considered food in Colombia, but can definitely serve for other, equally fundamental joys of life. Brothers Julio Cesar and Carlos Andres are making good money on providing the ambiance and the donkeys for the "happily living" customers. Their business--providing snacks, beers and a number of willing donkeys--has been a lot more profitable than any other job they had so far. "Not because of the beers and snacks," the brothers admitted to newspaper La Libertad. Full Article...

Otto the octopus wreaks havoc

"A octopus has caused havoc in his aquarium by performing juggling tricks using his fellow occupants, smashing rocks against the glass and turning off the power by shortcircuiting a lamp. Staff believe that the octopus called Otto had been annoyed by the bright light shining into his aquarium and had discovered he could extinguish it by climbing onto the rim of his tank and squirting a jet of water in its direction. [...] "Once we saw him juggling the hermit crabs in his tank, another time he threw stones against the glass damaging it. And from time to time he completely re-arranges his tank to make it suit his own taste better - much to the distress of his fellow tank inhabitants." "
