I usually don't like dancing videos, but this one is an exception. Very trippy

the 7 new world wonders

here is a site where you can vote for a new world wonder.
there are some real beauty's architect wonders on the site but some are real shitty as well.
to bad for it little bit nationalism in me that there isn't one dutch challenger for the new world wonders.

Some nice dutch world wonders:

the delta werken: Imagine everybody called it a wonder that jezus walked over water and turned water in to wine. Than the delta werken are defiantly a world wonder.

What exactly is Boredom?

Boredom – A great Spiritual Phenomenon. Abha, boredom is one of the most important things in human life. Boredom simply shows that you are becoming aware of the futility of life, its constant repetitive wheel. Boredom is the first indication that a great understanding is arising in you about the futility, meaninglessness of life and its ways.
An interesting read about boredom.

Battle of Iwo Jima

Most of the RBB have seen the movie Flags of Our Fathers, that's why I post this here. I can't find the torrent of the documentary about Iwo Jima, but it's still on my HD.
Amazing that more than 90% of the Japanese died.

cybrbeast (referring to Flags of Our Fathers):
Ira Hayes (you guys found him the most annoying character, I found him the best)
Referring to his alcoholism, he once said: "I was sick. I guess I was about to crack up thinking about all my good buddies. They were better men than me and they're not coming back. Much less back to the White House, like me." After the war, Hayes accumulated some fifty arrests for drunkenness.

In 1954, after a ceremony where he was lauded by President Eisenhower as a hero, a reporter rushed up to him and asked him, "How do you like the pomp and circumstance?" Hayes just hung his head and said, "I don't."

Ira's tragic story was immortalized in a song, "The Ballad of Ira Hayes", by Peter LaFarge. Covers of this song were done by
Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Smiley Bates, Bob Dylan, Kinky Friedman and Townes van Zandt. In 1964, Johnny Cash took the song to number 3 on the Billboard country music chart.

Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima
The movie seems to be pretty accurate.

Now we have to wait until the other part; Letters from Iwo Jima is released. It's a top 250 movie.

Fishermen haul in world's biggest squid

A gigantic 10m-long squid, believed to be the largest ever found, has been caught by New Zealand fishermen in the Ross Sea.

Weighing an estimated 450kg, the colossal squid (Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni) was eating a hooked toothfish when it was hauled to the surface of the New Zealand vessel San Aspiring, owned by the Sanford seafood company.

Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni @ wiki
Though it is known from only a few specimens, current estimates put its maximum size at 12–14 metres

Pretty scary creature, I wouldn't want to meet that while swimming, or diving in one of those mini submersibles. I do hope they catch some footage of a live one soon.

Twenty Simple Rules of Life in Texas

Like the title says, here are 20 simple rules of life in Texas. They might come in handy for Mr. Wiggles, but I doubt he´ll be reading them.

Fully automated plane?

Most of you have probably seen video: I want to set something straight here.
This was a new fly-by-wire Airbus. Fly-by-wire means that there are no direct cables to control the control surfaces(rudder, aileron, etc). It's not the same as an autopilot. There was a pilot in this plane and he was activly flying. 3 people(out of 130) died in this accident. The manoeuvre was part of a flight show and the plane was not supposed to land. Fly-by-wire has been proven to be very reliable and this accident had most likely nothing to do with it. What caused the crash is not well known or generally accepted; the Flight Data Recorder was substituted by someone. It might have been a computer or pilot error, or a combination of both. Just note that this plane wasn't (fully) flown by a computer. I know many people have seen this video on teh INTERNET and I can't stand when such a bad image about autopilots is created. Sorry for annoying you with this.

Smart Parrot

The finding of a parrot with an almost unparalleled power to communicate with people has brought scientists up short.

The bird, a captive African grey called N'kisi, has a vocabulary of 950 words, and shows signs of a sense of humour.

When he first met Dr Jane Goodall, the renowned chimpanzee expert, after seeing her in a picture with apes, N'kisi said: "Got a chimp?"

Pretty amazing. Full article in the main link.
If you haven't seen him, Einstein the parrot is also pretty smart.

Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov

As many as 89.23 percent in Turkmenistan voted for Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov at the presidential elections, announced Murad Karryev, chief of the Central Election Commission of the country. Berdymukhammedov’s closest rival in the presidential race – Amanniyaz Atadzhikov – was supported by less than 4 percent of the voters, while another formal runner, Ishankuli Nuryev, gathered just 2.38 percent during the elections attended by 98.65 percent, i.e. over 2,677,000 voters in Turkmenistan. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It looks like the Turkmeni people have elected a new president! And they have an internetcafe!(Dutch) Now all they can long for is free press, free elections, uncensored Internet, freedom of speech and I could go on for a while...

Britney, Bald

It appears that Britney has decided to not only shave her pussy, but also her head.
There's a video and news story in the blog link. It also appears that she went into rehab, but left a day later. Maybe she finally snapped, or she is just going for a Sinead O'Connor look.
More pics here.

Car parked on the side of Dutch building

Apparently there's a mini parked on the side of a building in the Westenbergstraat, Den Haag, Netherlands. Someone who was browsing Google Earth noticed it and posted it, thinking it was a case of photo manipulation. My first thought would have been a female driver, but it turns out to be an art project. Here and here are photos from street level.
Here is the kml file that will open Google Earth and take you there.

Win a trip to space

Win this price and you will be one of the first space tourist on earth. What they ask from you isn't that much, they ask: to tell in 250 words what product you think is the best pattern product and why. I know its a small change we win it but with a night of brainstorming and some nice and creative reasoning. we maybe make a change :). i once saw a 5 minute documentary about 2 man that where professional price winners. I got some knowledge from them, its about 2 things: having a good answer ( DUHHH) A way how you're envelope got noticed out of the billion other envelopes (almost everybody forget that) maybe this is fun to do as a group, maybe people wanna do it on there own, maybe people don't give a fuck about it. I'm in that first group because i think it will be fun to do some brainstorming about it and i can pass my place to somebody else in the group because i don't give a fuck about space tourism.

iPhone Clone

I looks like a Chinese company has already made an iPhone 'alternative' (right picture). Seems like they must have had the design plans for the iPhone beforehand, or they are just really fast cloners.
I think it looks sexier, it also has a higher resolution screen and camera, and operates on Windows. It's also likely to be lots and lots cheaper.
Check out the specs comparison here
