Self Immolation

Self immolation is the practice of committing suicide by fire. Often this is done to protest against something. Thich Quang Duc is pictured here on the World Press Photo of 1963, protesting the persecution of Buddhists by South Vietnam's Ngo Dinh Diem administration.

There was even a video made of the event. *Viewer discretion is advised* Whereas most people who put them self on fire start running, screaming or flailing their limbs this monk shows amazing fortitude by remaining motionless in a meditative position until his death. So scary and bizarre, I don't know what more to say about it.
