Three articles that peaked my interest today concerning our, Dutch, freedoms.
Parliament wants to
ban really violent videogames (bad for freedom)
Parliament wants to
ban growshops (bad for freedom)
Parliament wants
an inquiry into terrorism policy (good for freedom)
I made a quick roundup of the parties and their stances on these issues. They really show their colors.
For some reason the table wouldn't show correctly in Blogger so I made a screenshot of it. D66 FTW!
and GL!
ReplyDeleteHow are they going to define a Growshop? I see some legal problems(for god damn good reasons) in banning growshops that sell legal stuff.
Many (almost all) products in a growshop are not even produced for growing cannabis.
It's sad that they even WANT to ban such a thing. It's even sadder that the VVD wants to ban growshops. Let's quote the VVD website:
"De VVD is van mening dat de voordelen van de legalisering van softdrugs opwegen tegen de nadelen. Één mits moet hierbij worden aangetekend. Legalisering kan slechts plaatsvinden in overeenstemming met het internationaal recht en een redelijke mate van internationale consensus. Realisme leert dat dit een grote sta in de weg is voor legalisering. Maar Nederland kan wel wat doen om de geesten rijp te maken voor verdergaande stappen." officieel VVD standpunt drugs.
It's pretty clear that the VVD has lost all professionalism in politics and tries to be like Verdonk and Wilders.
Last time I wrote a letter to the VVD about their drugs policy, they forwarded my mail to the ministry of VWS. They can't do that now.
I think it is time for a new letter to the VVD. They can't have this cool and liberal text on their website as their official opinion about drugs and do things like this.
new-letter-time!
ReplyDeleteI was just getting a bit optimistic after reading this article last monday, but that optimism is all gone now.
why why why?
Seriously, a ban on growshops is totally ridiculous, and a ban on games wouldn't work either (ever heard of downloading?)
GL is good for freedom, but they are too naive on energy and environmental policy.
ReplyDeleteVVD is seriously going against their party program. I don't know why, but I don't think it's to follow PVV and ToN. Rutte seems pretty clear that he wants nothing to do with them.
I think it's quite ridiculous that the two parties who have freedom in their name, VVD and PVV, both vote to ban growshops and also don't want to find out if our terror policy works or may even be illegal.
"Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety"
Nice article pimp. De Pers FTW! :)
ReplyDeletestrange that the cu isn't against games. Found this article about gaming and aggression. Anybody know if there are more articles about the effects of gaming?
