wow, nasty... now I understand why these things stop when there is finally a lot of wind to produce much energy...
wind vs wind-turbine :) 1-0
Does anyone have a clue how a brake on a wind turbine works? Is there a certain speed when the brakes can't stop the turbine anymore?
The brake usually consists of turning the blades out of the wind. I don't know what other systems they use.
Here is a little bit of infohttp://www.windpower.org/en/tour/wtrb/safety.htmbasically what annom said with mechanical backup brakes.
