Audiosurf is a music-adapting puzzle racer where you use your own music to create your own experience. The shape, the speed, and the mood of each ride is determined by the song you choose. You earn points for clustering together blocks of the same color on the highway, and compete with others on the internet for the high score on your favorite songs. It's quite a cool game and a really nice way to explore your music library again. There are a few different game modes and difficulty levels.
You can download a demo at the Audiosurf website, or you can download the torrent, or even buy the game, it's only $9.95 but you have to use Steam. Buying the game lets you use the online functionality where you can compare your scores with those of others and see what songs are popular.
Here is a clip of someone playing David Bowie - Space Oddity.
looks like a nice combo between gaming and music. I will check it out when i got some more free time.
ReplyDeletelooks cool! I'll certainly try it!
ReplyDeleteWhat are a few good songs to play with? I like this idea.
ReplyDeleteJust try some out. Generally upbeat songs make for a good experience. The faster and noisier the song the harder it gets. So death metal is not for beginners.
ReplyDeleteWith slow tracks you can just up the difficulty to make it more challenging.
anybody played it yet?
ReplyDeleteYes, great way to actively listen to music (something I rarely do). Some fast and bombastic classical music is fun, but happy hardcore also gives a great ride :)
ReplyDeleteI don't really like the actual game. I like to play it easy and just experience the music and ride.
I think mono pro is the best game mode. You don't have to concern with all the different colors. Just dodge grey and pick up the rest. Mostly reflex based game mode.
ReplyDeleteyes, that's what I'm playing. Rammstein is fun :)
ReplyDeletenot yet.
