Actually this is timelapse footage from a real event. By using a special depth of field technique called tilt-shift photography the artist creates the effect of looking at miniatures. I really recommend watching his other videos which are more clearly real and very nice timelapses.

ReplyDeleteI think it gives a very cool effect. I wonder how hard it is to make such a timelapse and whether I need special equipment.
The wiki page says you can either do it digitally by gradient blurring or optically with special lenses.

Yeah that could be cool. Remember to find a place where you have an oblique high view of the scene.
