Unicef Fail

  1. Wait a second... I thought this was sent to your adres. But now I see what first looked like a reflection of a lamp is actually a nickel (or some sort of coin). Silly me. =)

  2. Exactly, they say a nickel can save a child's life. But they send you a nickel to get you to donate. In the process it could be implied that Unicef lets a child die.
I've donated to a few of these good causes and keep receiving spam mail which must cost them something. Next time I'll try to donate anonymously.

  4. It would be better if they send a rotting corpse of a baby.

  5. McUnicef or iUnicef?

This is typical for the larger charities, although this comes in a very stupid form. You get a free magazine, toys, etc if you donate. Many charities spend more than 25% of their income on marketing. I met a guy, while traveling, who worked for save the children. He worked as marketing guy who received 4000 a month for socializing with rich people around the world (drinking wiskey and going to stripclubs) to get them to donate (again). I see how this brings in more money, but it feels a bit wrong.

There has to be a website with charities that don't "waste" their money on things like this.
