The Anti-Social Network

  1. So should I remove my account to make a statement against Facebook? I really didn't expect any better from them. It's called a corporate machine. We also still buy Shell and BP oil right?

  2. Well, you could decide to buy only from competitors such as esso oil if you have a problem with shell of BP.
Just like you could stop eating meat or switch to more 'animal-friendly' produced meat if you have a problem with factory farming.

Unfortunately, with social networks you and your network would have to switch, which probably won't happen soon.

  3. Well my point was that all big oil is somewhat evil and there are no real alternatives, especially since all products involve oil.

I can join another social network, but then I don't have any friends, so the only option is to remove myself from Facebook in which case I would have lost contact with quite a few because they changed/lost their (student/company) e-mail address.

In many ways, big oil is much more evil than Facebook as I don't think Facebook harms innocent people, only stupid people.

I am the first to join a more private and open internet ID, but I am not a trend setter.
