St. Mere Eglise and COD realism

I got myself into an enormous disappointment when I was in Normandy and visited St. Mere Eglise and Carentan to see the pizzahut and the church of St. Mere Eglise last summer. I feel like sharing this disappointment now... Here is what I encountered, a free standing, different church without graveyard: This is what I expected: Not even close.... Carentan was even worse. I need psychological help!

CoD2 isn't famous for it's historical correctness regarding it's maps. But the 2WW was over 60 ago now so it's possible that the graveyard is a parking lot and the pizzahut is now a real pizzahut...

But nevertheless, If you want a game which does pay respect to the geographies and buildings of the '40s go play Brothers in Arms. Game does suck though...

Stoopid level designers...

If they kept it authentic the levels proabably wouldn't have been as fun though. But still, they could at least make the buildings look alike.

Carebear, what about movies/tv series like Band of Brothers? Are they anywhere near realistic when it comes to architecture and city mapping?

If you spend millions and million on a game or tv serie, I expect some realism in games that try to be realistic.

Do you carebear when they would use imaginary weapons in COD and CoH?

The lack of realism in Band of Brothers is its biggest flaw.

They sure can change a lot for gameplay, but at least move your ass over there and make some pictures.

If you're going to replay a historic event, you should IMO care about realism to create a scene where it's possible to empathize with the historic event.
