A faction of the Thai military led by the army chief says it has overthrown Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
Soldiers have entered the prime minister's offices in Government House and tanks have surrounded the building.
How easy can this happen in the western world?

hmmm... dunno if this is a good or a bad thing. Depends on what happens next, do they let new elections take place?
Anyway, IMO a military coup shouldn't happen in a democracy unless the government is cheating in the elections.
I don't think this could easily happen in western countries because other countries would probably intervene.
Other countries would intervene? No way we would invade Belgium if there was a coup.
Or did you ment something else with intervene?
Thailand is hardly part of the Western World, my dear Watson.
