A gigantic 10m-long squid, believed to be the largest ever found, has been caught by New Zealand fishermen in the Ross Sea.Weighing an estimated 450kg, the colossal squid (Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni) was eating a hooked toothfish when it was hauled to the surface of the New Zealand vessel San Aspiring, owned by the Sanford seafood company.

Though it is known from only a few specimens, current estimates put its maximum size at 12–14 metres
Pretty scary creature, I wouldn't want to meet that while swimming, or diving in one of those mini submersibles. I do hope they catch some footage of a live one soon.

It doesn't look nice, but it's still better than a giant octopus.
A giant octopus only reaches 71 kg, though it has a 4.3m arm span. It does looks scarier.
