Miniature or Real?

I recommend watching it in HD. More videos by this guy. Read the comments for the explanation.

Actually this is timelapse footage from a real event. By using a special depth of field technique called tilt-shift photography the artist creates the effect of looking at miniatures.
I really recommend watching his other videos which are more clearly real and very nice timelapses.

This looks like a good time to eleminate this from my 'potential blogposts' bookmarks...

I think it gives a very cool effect. I wonder how hard it is to make such a timelapse and whether I need special equipment.

The wiki page says you can either do it digitally by gradient blurring or optically with special lenses.

I'll give it a try someday.
Any cool places I should consider?
I'm thinking Rotterdam Centraal would be a cool spot.

Yeah that could be cool. Remember to find a place where you have an oblique high view of the scene.
