Androids are almost ready to take over

Ok, not quite, but they're getting there.
She can even sing using a Vocaloid.

Definitely getting there. They have to work on the boob physics though.

Now it's time for them to become intelligent. Or at least be able to make me a sandwich.

Want to guess when the first android can make a sandwich, the human way? In non-standardized situations.

Vocaloid is a very cool word.

Sandwich making android from a random fridge, so nothing prearranged, I'd say 2025.

That would be good. That means image recognition, coordination and motor skills are good enough for a very wide range of actions. Cleaning, washing, cooking and sex. They will render woman useless, unless you want a little old-skool baby :P

2025 is a good guess. It probably won't be earlier.

I can imagine my first robot calibrating itself in my home. Walking around, absorbing and processing new information like a child.

I think I prefer a mechanical/robot looking droid instead of the human ones. Except for my pleasuredroid/gynoid.

They would render human housekeepers useless, however they'll probably cost a lot of money in the beginning. But probably still cheaper than a wife in the long run :)
But then again, you'd want to be constantly upgrading to the newest models.

Let's hope they keep it open and modular :O Hardware and software. I don't want an iDroid ;)

I guess the software and CPU are the most important parts to upgrade. With software upgrades providing the largest performance increase in the beginning and CPU later on. The 2025 sensors, mechanical hardware and battery will do for a while. At least for home serving androids.

Maybe a little earlier. This robot can fold random towels from a pile.

Great!
It needs a green screen though, but it's only 2010.
