Very sad. I guess this data is for the US, figures... Though the same trend is probably true in many 'developed' countries and even worse in undeveloped countries.
I guess it depends on how you define it. The poor are getting poorer relative to the rich. But I think generally their purchasing power has increased. Though I don't know for sure.
