747 firefighting supertanker

This jumbo supertanker can hold around 100,000 liters of water. That's serious firefighting! I guess it takes a bit long to refuel and is a bit expensive to hire.

It looks a bit unpractical to me, you can't land a Jumbo on any landing strip, takes (I think) an awful lot of time to fill her up.

Typical American: bigger = better

If you click the link you see that a lot of potential problems are discussed. It claims that it can land on 80% of US airports.

I'd really love to see it in action somewhere.

I do see filling as a problem, other firefighting aircraft can scoop up water on the fly, but this has to land. Though it can take on 7 times more water than the biggest current firefighting plane.

she must be a heavy bird! I wonder how long the refilling takes.
